In 2015, we learned of the Sunrise Ascent on Mt. Washington and instantly knew we wanted to be a part of this special event. Sasha is an adventurer at heart, a fearless, inquisitive individual with a deep love of trees, nature and people. We are persistent in our desire for Sasha to see the sunrise from Mt. Washington's Summit as we know it will be an unparalleled experience.
Sasha will soon be 20 years old as she defies expectations of her journey with Sanfilippo Syndrome. Diagnosed at the age of 9, Sanfilippo Syndrome is a rare genetic condition affecting the central nervous system. A missing enzyme allows heparan sulfate to accumulate in her cells, which causes progressive damage throughout Sasha's body. As parents, it has been a difficult road witnessing the loss of many skills. However Sasha's boundless enthusiasm and joyous spirit make our lives beyond rich each and every day. We are eager at long last for Sasha to experience a Mt. Washington sunrise. Thank you for supporting this adventure!
